Partway

The away day lift back.

Written September 2026

Full time, and the group splits: one mate drove, and everyone else is eyeing the horror of a stadium station at kicking-out time. If your city isn't the driver's city, don't wave them off. Ride with them until the crowds are behind you, hop out at a station on their route, and catch a train that isn't heaving.

Fans already do this by instinct. One Stockport County away-day write-up describes the driver stopping off in Chester to drop one of the group before carrying on home. The instinct is right; the station choice is the part worth doing properly, because fares and trains change a lot between one stop and the next.

Sometimes the answer is ride to their door

A search we ran on 1 September 2026, event-at-Wembley shaped: your mate drives home to Northampton, you need Leicester. Booked from Wembley itself the journey was £80.30. Staying in the car all the way to Northampton and training from there: £25.80, arriving 18:20. Riding to the end of the drive is always on Partway's shortlist, and on this run it won outright.

Settle it before the second half

A search takes about ten seconds: the drive, your destination, done. Tick the stops that suit you and the driver gets one link, sees what each adds to their journey, and picks. No accounts, and the driver never needs the app.

Next away day, check the ride home properly: Partway, free on the App Store. Real trains, real fares, and the driver's detour counted.
