End of a group weekend, and the unlucky maths begins: one person drove, and the passengers live in three different places. The driver should not spend the evening touring the country, and nobody wants the four-hour goodbye. The fix is to drop each person at a station just off the driver's own route home, where a good train finishes the job.
Which station, though? The nearest one to the "can you drop me somewhere" conversation is usually wrong: fares change sharply between stations, and so do the trains. Partway, our free iPhone app, checks every station along the drive for each passenger and shows the driver what each stop adds.
A search we ran on 1 September 2026: driving back from Windermere to Manchester with a passenger who lives in Leeds. The train all the way from Windermere was £57.30. Dropped at Salford Crescent instead, four minutes off the driver's route, the fare to Leeds was £28.20, arriving 17:53. One drop, about half the fare, and the driver barely notices.
Each passenger gets their own answer, because the right drop for Leeds is not the right drop for Birmingham. A search takes about ten seconds, so doing it three times over breakfast is still quicker than the group chat argument. This happens on real trips constantly: one away-day write-up we like describes the driver stopping off in Chester to drop one of the group while the rest rode on. That instinct, priced properly, is this app.
Before the drive home splits four ways, give each leg ten seconds in Partway. Free on the App Store, no sign-up, and the driver picks from one link.
